In this episode of Korda’s Thinking Tackle Podcast is Martin Clarke.
In 2000, Martin Clarke famously caught the second biggest brace in UK carp fishing in history. The fish weighed 45.08 and 46.02 respectively and were captured from Summerleaze in Berkshire. This remarkable result later went on to inspire Martin’s first book, Strictly Carp.
Martin’s carp angling career began over 40 years ago, where he fished on local waters such as Woburn Sands; It was this venue where he landed his first 20lb carp. He has since gone on to fish many of the country’s top lakes including, Harefield, Taplow, and Elstow. As well as fishing in the UK, Martin was one of the early anglers to fish on Lac Cassien in Southern France.
In 2013, Martin released this second book, Heads Down Tails Up. This book covers all his thoughts on modern-day carp fishing, including applying yourself to venues and swims and advanced tactical approaches. Later his year, Martin will unveil a brand-new media project which will combine the latest catch reports with interesting interviews and fantastic features.
During this podcast, Martin shared his extensive carp fishing knowledge and his meticulous approach towards his angling. We also go in-depth about rig mechanics, where he explained the concept behind some of his most successful ideas. He also tells the story of two potentially record-breaking carp that avoided capture!
