A simple and pliable dough based fishing bait for trout. with lots of garlic powder for scent and a good serving of sugar to attract trout with taste, this basic homemade fishing bait is a great choice for trout and other coarse fish.
It’s something I’ve used in the past and to give a much better look for the fish I’ve often used a food colouring to give the bait a nice bright red or green colour.
It’s a very simple recipe to make on the day. It is important to work the dough enough to make it soft and pliable otherwise it has a habit of being too crumbly and falling off the hook. As a dough it is better to be overworked and a little tough than under kneaded and having no strength to stay on the hook – you don’t want to see the bait flying off the hook mid-cast.
It’s a good bait if you don’t want to start cooking boilies in water. Garlic is an ideal flavouring for trout. If you want to target other fish then it’s worth experimenting with other flavours and scents.
