Product Test – Budefo Sweepfire Spinning Rod

A trip out for a few hours down at Barry Docks as I try out my new fishing rod.

This lightweight rod is designed for the traveller and backpacker in mind. Only 2.1m long it breaks down into 4 sections for easy travelling. The rod is rated for 7g to 28g lures.

I tested out a range of lures from 2g to a hefty 40g to see how the rod copes. A range of lures from topwater through to jigging rigs was also tested. I was highly impressed with the ability of this lure rod which will be perfect for use in urban fishing settings such as canals, docks, piers and smaller lakes or pools.

It should also work well off the rocks for sea fishing and also boat fishing. While it should cope with many beach fishing locations I think it will start to fail to reach over some surf situations. For the money, it really is a great bit of fishing kit.
