I always like to use public transport when available – or my ebike – for fishing. If you can avoid the car then it really helps with the environment. It’s not always possible to do. There are some really good fishing marks that do not have access to public transport. But some do. This is part of my new series of videos on Youtube where I head off to locations for fishing on either the bus or train and sometimes both.
I’m happy to use the bus now that I am over 60. In Wales, the free bus pass is available for the over 60’s you do not have to wait until state retirement age and this is something England really does need to consider.
The first trip is out to Penarth Beach. When you go by public transport you really do think about what fishing gear you take, heavy or large loads are not great for either train or bus.
It was a good day out fishing at Penarth Beach. You can fish most parts of the tide, it’s just a 1-hour session on either side of the low tide that is difficult. But it does make it easy to arrange bus travel and good tide times. I did not fish from the pier, just the beach. It is snag-free but there is sharp bedrock that can slice through your line and subsequently lost end tackle.
